Boy or Girl?

In just 1 short week we are finding out if we will have a son or a daughter (weird saying those words!) I am completely craving anything spicy. Someone pass the Tabasco! Baby is a Mango this week!

Your Baby: Week 19

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Babies"R"Us - Baby Registry

Babies"R"Us - Baby Registry

People have been asking what we need. Well, diapers obviously, but we really need almost everything! Please take a look at our registry, which I am sure will change next monday when we find out of baby V will be a boy or girl! <3

Do we have a soccer star? Baby is kicking!

So baby is actively giving me tiny kicks. Though such a weird, and scary feeling, it's nice knowing the little on is safe deep in there. I have been exhausted. I think I have experienced any and every pregnancy symptom thus far. As of right now my lower back and hips are killing me... all, the, time. As for this week- baby is a sweet potato!

Your Baby: Week 18

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

17 weeks!

In just 3 short weeks we will find out if baby Velasco is going to be a boy or girl! I cannot wait. We still haven't scheduled the ultrasound yet. I figured it could wait until I got back from vacation. Speaking of which baby did not stop moving the entire time i was on the plane. I cannot wait to find out what baby is! I do know baby is an onion this week!

Your Baby: Week 17

your baby's the size of an onion!
Baby continues to beef up. Now she's about 5.1 inches long and weighs about 5.9 ounces. Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

15/16 Weeks!

So I've been a bad pregnant blogger. Mostly because if I'm not at work, I'm sleeping... or trying to get my feet not to swell. I'm going to cover 2 weeks in this post since technically I am still 15 weeks until tomorrow.
I had my 16 week visit today and got to hear the heartbeat again. It's definitely reassuring to hear that every 4 weeks. It's hard to believe that my next visit will be my 20 week appointment. Which means my 20 week ultrasound and yes, finding out if baby Velasco will be a boy or girl! I cannot wait to find out and really start the stocking up and registry updating! :)

So 15 weeks:

your baby's the size of a navel orange!
The average fetus at 15 weeks weighs 2.5 ounces and measures 4 inches -- and his proportions are becoming even more normal, since his legs now out measure his arms.

Week 16:

your baby's the size of an avocado!
Now, she's about 4.6 inches long and weighs about 3.5 ounces, and she's big enough that your doctor may be able to hear her heartbeat.

Who has tequila and salt? Baby is a lime!

Whoever said morning sickness improves as you move farther in your pregnancy is lying! I have been more nauseous this week than I could have ever imagined! I finally called my ob today and he called in an anti-nausea medication so I should start feeling better soon! Exhaustion? That is an understatement! I'm not sure my body will ever give me enough sleep ever again... I can only hope I am wrong about that!

Your fetus is about 1.6 inches long, and she's got about a 1:1 head-to-body ratio. She now weighs in at about .25 ounces. By week 11, her tooth buds, hair follicles and nail beds are forming. Her skin is see-through, but she's on her way to looking more like a baby. Her fingers and toes aren't webbed anymore, and she's moving fluidly and gracefully in there, even though you can't feel it.

Week 10! Baby is a prune.

Your Baby: Week 10

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

Week 10! Double digits, never thought it would happen. I'm feeling more and more tired but from what I've been told that should be ending soon! YAY!

Believe it or not, as many times as I have been to my OB for labwork I have yet to have a normal pre-natal appointment. I am scheduled to go June 12 for the official first one!

Other than that it's going to be times for some bigger pants soon! Baby bump is beginning to emerge..

OLIVE!

your baby at 9 weeks
  • This is a milestone. She's no longer an embryo -- now she's a fetus!
  • She's developing more distinct facial features.
  • And she might now have a strong enough heartbeat to be picked up by a fetal doppler.
your baby's the size of a green olive!
She's gaining steam! At 9 weeks, your fetus measures around .9 inches and weighs about .07 ounces.

Hello, little raspberry!

I have been wanting a pregnancy blog since the moment I took the test and it came up positive! It has been a very rocky road so far for me and baby. I am currently at 8 weeks and have a estimated due date of December 24, 2013. Yes, a Christmas baby! I need to add that my mom is super excited because they put babies is stockings in the nursery at the hospital during this time of year.

Like I mentioned this has been a rocky road these last few weeks. I have been experiencing bleeding and cramping which has led to multiple lab tests, 2 ultrasounds, and an early rhogam shot. I have been diagnosed with what the obgyn is calling a "threatened miscarriage." Not to mention a trip to the ER since the cramping got so bad while at work one night. But enough with the troubles. My last blood test came back amazing so I am looking forward with an open heart to help grow this baby into the most amazing human being I can!

It is still weird when I think there is something growing inside of me. I have given multiple nicknames; "the parasite", "the alien", "the stinker"...etc... For now I will just call it baby raspberry, which will change in 7 days! My family is so excited that we will be welcoming a new baby into the family and I am sure that Dan's family will feel the same as soon as we are able to share this wonderful news with them!

Here is what baby is up to this week!

your baby's the size of a raspberry!
Now she weighs in (yay!) at about .04 ounces and measures about .63 inches. This week, she's growing about a milimeter each day.
You can't feel it yet, but by eight weeks, your baby is moving those arms and legs like crazy! Here's a fun fact: Her taste buds are now forming. (!!)
